FIFA's executive committee outlined new proposals at the news conference
held in Zurich yesterday, including making sure there are at least six
women on the newly-devised FIFA council, limiting presidential terms to a
maximum of three and increasing the World Cup to 40 teams.

The Nigerian Army have recalled about 3000 soldiers that were relieved of their jobs because they refused to fight Boko Haram. The soldiers refused fighting the sect because they said they lacked the appropriate weapons to engage the sect members and win the battle. President Buhari has appointed Tunde Fowler as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). Until his appointment, Mr Fowler was the Chief Executive Officer /Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue from 2005 to 2014. He had his higher education in the United States where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Business Administration degree from the California State University. He will serve as Acting Executive Chairman of FIRS until his appointment is confirmed by the Senate.

About 12,000 Nigerian refugees, mostly from Borno state, have been repatriated by the Cameroonian government. Most of the refugees say they are being repatriated against their will. The authorities in Cameroon believe Boko Haram members are entering their country, disguising as refugees. NEMA says the repatriated refugees have started arriving home through the border post in Sahuda, Mubi South, Adamawa State and are currently being screened by the Nigerian Immigration Service and other security agencies. 1,121 of them have been screen, out of which 650 have been transported to Bor... more »

Ambode urged the permanent secretaries to ensure that the interest of the residents of the state comes first. An angry Internally Displaced woman at the National Youth Service Camp in Damare, Adamawa state, today openly accused NEMA officials of stealing & selling relief materials meant for Internally Displaced Persons in the state. The coordinator for NEMA, Sa’ad Bello was briefing deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu who was in the state to assess the conditions of the IDP camps when the woman interrupted their discussion and accused the agency of theft. “It is a lie.
